y mas tarde en lunes
Tonight for dinner we had yucca (which tastes kind of like super dense potatoes) with onions and salami on top. It was very different but pretty good. Padre gave us a lesson about the Dominican Republic with a giant map that he gave us along with the history of the DR. (There are whales around the island, hopefully I’ll get to see one!) Then we went to go see Victor’s aunt at her house so we got to drive through the city a little bit. I would never want to drive here.. ultimate starting and stopping and honking and driving fast (mom, you’d be sick in five seconds) but it was fun to get around. We had our first legal glass of wine there :) which helped our Spanish flow a little easier. Next we went to Judith’s mom’s house. Everyone is really excited about the family’s new “daughters” and they were excited to talk to us. We came back to our casa and tried a potato-like food that is basically sweet potatoes and was way good along with some really good cheese (lots of cheeses before bed, nice). I’m excited to get out in the city tomorrow; our mom thought we would get lost today if we went walking so we’re going to wait until we actually know where we are. We get to sleep in again tomorrow and have orientation at 3:00 so that should be good. I’m excited to see Trena and the other people in our group, time to go sweat in my sleep with my fan on my face. Not bad. Les amo!

OMG Victor and his map...once I egged him on just so he would pull out his map again and we could tease him about it
